Web EDI Systems
Electronic document interchange requires appropriate software and technical solutions from all communication channels. It may become an obstacle in contact between large (and rich) companies and smaller ones which do not use EDI systems as of yet. Smaller enterprises may also lack other IT systems which can be integrated with EDI systems used by other companies in the delivery chain. One must bear in mind that young companies are important elements in the delivery chain and should not be ignored. How can such problems be solved? The solution is the Web EDI system.
What are its characteristic features that distinguish it from the classic EDI system? The Web EDI system is implemented in one of the commercial partners and the remaining cooperators connect to the EDI platform by means of the standard Web browser. As such, Web EDI is an advanced and functional solution which aims for complete automation of processes and transactions with small and medium partners not equipped with EDI.
Web EDI guarantees efficient two-way traffic: the partners who do not use the standard EDI are provided with information by the company that has the system implemented and can, in turn, transmit the data back. Thus, the Web EDI platform integrates many processes and improves communication as well as electronic information interchange.
To some extent, the Web EDI system may also reduce the workload of personnel. For instance, the partners/customers enter all the details regarding their order, while the sales department employees have only to verify them and forward to the internal ERP system for verification.
